How to support someone with cancer
We’ve put together this information on how to support someone with cancer - finding out someone you love has cancer is one of those ‘I remember where I was…’ moments.
It can leave you feeling scared, upset, powerless, angry – even guilty. This section is here to support you and help you deal with whatever you’re going through.
Whether it’s your son, daughter, brother, sister or friend who has cancer, that diagnosis can change your relationship in a lot of ways. You might find you grow closer – or struggle to connect like you used to. You might be unsure of what to say or what to do. And you’ll probably struggle with your own emotions and feelings, too.
So try to bear in mind that there’s no normal way to deal with this – and no right or wrong way either. Talking honestly – and listening openly – can help a lot. And remember to look after yourself, too, because cancer is tough on everyone.
