Director of Engagement
My role
My role is to enable deep connections between people, Teenage Cancer Trust and the young people we support. I lead an incredible team who raise awareness of who we are, what we do and the impact that we have, as well as directly working with those who would like to donate or fundraise to support the charity’s critical work.
Teenage Cancer Trust and me
When I was 24, I was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer, an experience that has subsequently become my driving force and given me a deep sense of personal purpose. It led me to the charity sector, where I have continued to work for over the 20 years, including in senior leadership roles at Young Lives vs Cancer, World Child Cancer and alongside the NHS.
I went through my treatment without the support of the specialist staff or facilities that Teenage Cancer Trust enables - they simply weren’t available then – and I don’t want any young person to have to go through their journey in the same way. I am proud to have the chance to work with incredible colleagues at Teenage Cancer Trust to make sure that every young person with cancer has the care and the support they need and deserve.
