My name is Beth and I was 21 when I was diagnosed with cancer. As you can imagine, it hit me hard, I was devastated.  

I started chemotherapy 10 days later at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit. The treatment was brutal, and because of Covid, I spent 6 months of gruelling chemo without my mum, or any other visitors there. 

It would have been easy to feel isolated and alone, but I was so lucky to have Kirsty and Lisa, my specialist nurse and youth support coordinator. They were amazing and really helped get me through it.  

Without the support of people like you, I’d still be an anxious mess.

When I finished my treatment though, I began to struggle with my mental health. Instead of elation or relief, I felt an all-consuming fear that I was going to relapse. The worry took over my life.

Even though I wasn’t on the unit anymore, I knew that I could talk to Kirsty about how I was feeling. She completely understood what I was going through which was such a relief.

Because of the support people like you give to Teenage Cancer Trust, I got the best possible care at the toughest time of my life, and I never felt alone. Your donation will help make sure other young people get the same support and care I received.
