The Christie Hospital NHS Trust (associated unit)

The NHS Young Oncology Unit at The Christie Hospital in Manchester is for 16-24 year olds and has 13 in-patient beds. We worked with The Christie on the design of this unit and have key members of Teenage Cancer Trust staff based here.

Teenage Cancer Trust works across the North West to deliver a nursing and support service for young people who are being treated in hospitals in the region. Operating our service in this way means we can support young people wherever they are and whenever they need us. The facilities and staff on the Young Oncology Unit at the Christie are a part of this regional support.

In total, Teenage Cancer Trust funds 10 expert staff in the North West:

They champion the needs of young people with cancer and provide specialist expertise and care in local hospitals.

The original Young Oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital in Manchester was one of the first Teenage Cancer Trust units and opened in 1998. The new Young Oncology Unit was opened in June 2014 in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Teenage Cancer Trust provided design advice and recreational equipment for this area.
