Scottish Government has today relaxed its shielding guidance for vulnerable people, allowing them, if they choose, to:
- take part in non-contact outdoor leisure activities
- meet up with people from one other household a day in groups of no more than 8
Please see the quote in response from Teenage Cancer Trust’s Director of Services below.
Dr Louise Soanes, Director of Services for Teenage Cancer Trust, said:
“For so many vulnerable young people with cancer, today’s light relaxation of guidance will come as a relief. At a time where we know young people with cancer are feeling especially isolated, being able to go outside, exercise and interact with family or friends will hugely benefit their mental and physical health. It is however, important that they do this safely. If you do go out, exercise or enjoy that long awaited face-to-face interaction, please make sure you remain a safe 2 metres away.
"If you’re concerned or have questions about what these new guidelines mean for you personally, please contact your GP or cancer team.”
